What Is It About Rotisserie?

By Nora Seabolt

There are a large number of cooking methods. A few people boil, few fry and a few grill their food. There are many other ways to cook as well, like steaming, sauting, baking, braising, poaching and roasting. Each is very unique and boasts many benefits, but one of the most popular is still roasting. Maybe because it is one of the earliest forms of cooking known to mankind. The early man would have found this form very effective of putting the meat he just killed on a stick and over a fire.

This scene reminds us mostly of camping nights, where campers roast food over fire, as it is the easiest thing to do. Today there are a number of ways to roast. One of the most loved is rotisserie.

It is the process of putting meat on a stick and heating over a fire. The rod is made of metal and it is called a spit. The roasting takes place while rotating the rod slowly over the fire, so that all sides of the meat are evenly cooked. Although it is a slow process, it is worth the time. The meat that has been roasted this way comes out very succulent, juicy and tender. The process of using the kit (spit and drip pan) is known by this same term as well. Basically this word today refers to both the style of cooking and the equipment used.

They are made by many companies, making the list quite large. The cyprus grill is one of the oldest companies offering this equipment. Their reputation is top notch for offering a great grill. These grills come in two types - horizontal and vertical. The horizontal is the most common type, and the one that is usually used in campfires and in backyard barbeques. In horizontal rotisseries, meat load balance is important. This even balance ensures the meat is well cooked, giving the best flavor possible. The vertical grill is not as popular because it requires heat from the side. This can be difficult to do.

Most grills come in sizes that are easy to fit in the trunks of cars, and can be easily assembled. Cyprus Grills in general offer multiple skewers to cook many meats at once and are designed for easy lifting and moving. The fire in most outdoor grills is supplied by burning charcoal under the spit, and a dripping pan is provided to collect the natural fat of the meat that drips while roasting. This also makes the meat healthy, as most of the fat is removed. The slow rotisserie process makes some of the best meat you'll ever taste. The Cyprus Grill is the way to go if you are looking to cook out this summer.
