Adding Healthy Salads to Your Life

Many people have an eating routine that centers on eating meat and don't regularly eat many vegetables or other green foods. While probably delicious, eating too much meat can be unhealthy and also is dramatically more expensive than other plant-based foods. One way you can add some healthier vegetables to your diet is by adding a salad to beginning of your meal before you start in on the meat courses.

Your local grocery store will carry a selection of already assembled salads that you can choose from and you won't even need to wash it before serving the salads! This way, you really have no excuse for not eating salad since it is so drop dead simple to prepare.

One key to healthy salads is resisting the impulse to drown it in a huge amount of an unhealthy salad dressing or sauce. For example, ranch dressing tastes great but is packed with fat so it may be adding even more unhealthy calories to your diet. Italian dressing has a lot of same issues. Choosing a light dressing or even using no dressing at all will be healthier. It's also important to experiment with different types of salads to find one that you can enjoy without covering up the taste with a dressing. The grocery store will have a wide selection, and you can also experiment with adding dried fruit, fresh fruits and even cheeses to the salad to give it a more expressive taste. Enjoy your new healthy salad lifestyle!

Many people enjoy oil and vinegar dressing as part of their low calorie diet.
