Sugar Cookies as Part of the Worldwide Holiday Tradition

In Canada and the United states, Parents will prepare sugar cookies that appear in different figures including candy canes, reindeer, and holly leaves, and kids would have to put these sugar cookies along with milk on top of the dining room table, assuming that Santa Claus would get and eat them during Christmas Eve.

This kind of Christmas Eve custom is actually practiced since 1930's. Gingerbread cookies are certainly one of the popular sugar cookies baked on Christmas holidays.

Lemon and Vanilla Bean White Sugar Cookies

These kinds of sugar cookies are utterly perfect for concluding your Christmas holiday traditions. They're simple to bake plus delightful!

Ingredients:

2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 1 huge egg, 2 tsp. vanilla extract, 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise, Zest of half a lemon (or the zest of a whole lemon, in case you really like lemon), 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp. salt,

Steps to make:

With any huge container, Work with an electric mixer or hand mixer to blend butter and confectioners' sugar on medium-high speed till adequately blended. Crack the egg and then beat properly. Mix in vanilla extract, accompanied by seeds taken from your vanilla bean, as well as lemon zest. Whip right until blended. Blend in the flour and salt, and whisk on low speed till fully mixed up, or when there are no more streaks of flour. Shape the dough into a ball and wrap securely using plastic cover. Keep in the fridge till cold and firm, for a minimum of 1-2 hours.

Once the dough is all set, pre-heat your oven to 375 F. Set up baking sheets by simply coating each with parchment paper. Take out the cold dough from the refrigerator and roll it out over a nicely floured flat working surface. Roll the dough right until it's approximately -inch thick. Trimmed the dough into your preferred Christmas designs utilizing cookie cutters, and then arrange into the greased baking sheets.

Bake dough for about 8-10 minutes. Halfway through baking, rotate the baking sheets right until completely cooked but lightly browned. Let them cool on the baking sheets for five minutes, and then set into the wire rack for cooling further and completely.

Decorate as preferred.
