Top Ideas For Themed Mothers Day Gift Baskets

By Janell Bowers

Coming up with great ideas for Mothers Day gift baskets can be tough. A themed basket is a good way to make things easier, since you can just select items that fit the theme. How do you come up with a good theme? That depends on the mother.

Look at what your mother likes to do in her spare time or what she enjoys eating, etc. This will give you ideas for themes. For example, someone who likes to cook will enjoy a cooking themed basket, while a woman who reads a lot will be pleased to receive a basket full of reading goodies. There are endless options and everyone likes something, so you should be able to come up with a fun idea fairly rapidly.

With a theme in mind, it is time to put the basket together. If you just do not have the time or energy to build your own, you can purchase Mothers Day gift baskets in stores, as well. These are not very personal, though, so your recipient will like something you put together far better in most cases.

Choosing items to add to the basket is the fun part. This is where you select items that your recipient will enjoy and use for that specific hobby. Do think outside the box. For example, in a crossword puzzle kit, you might add a mug and her favorite tea or hot chocolate so she can sip some while working on the puzzles. A key chain or jewelry that fits the theme can also be added in.

Putting the presents into a container that matches the gift is a great way to personalize it. A would-be chef will be delighted to get a new cooking pot filled with fun spices, herbs and recipe books to try out. This matching of the container to the theme is fun and provides Mom with a useful product, as well.

You might also try gardening supplies arranged in a pail for the mother who loves her flowers and veggies, or a spa themed collection tucked into a bathroom organizer to create a special pampering experience. Craft items such as yarn and pattern books can be presented inside a cute tote bag that she can use to carry her crafts with her.

Any time you find it hard to come up with an idea, just stop and check out some catalogs for ideas. You can also ask your mother what she would like or look on online forums related to the theme you have chosen. The forum members will be happy to recommend gift ideas.

Building Mothers Day gift baskets does not have to be a challenge. Rather, it can be fun to collect things that you know she will love and use, based around a theme that you choose from her hobbies or likes. The best thing is that most mothers have more than one hobby and you can give her another basket next year, either on a new theme or to replace what she may have used up from this year.
