It is true that fish taste good and are healthy for you. The health benefits are not disputed as they have been proven. However, to make it taste good, you need to know how to cook it. Cooking is not always easy, and much harder than cooking meat as meat is pretty easy to cook and hard to spoil. Fish on the other hand has to be done with care and some instructions, so as not to spoil it.

There are literally a thousand ways to prepare a good dish. Most countries have their particular favorites that is most popular and several ways to prepare it. This mostly depends on what is available and what has been traditionally used. For instance, in Portugal the popular one is Cod and they have hundreds of different ways to prepare it.

There are several ways to cook it, the most common ways are to fry, boil or grill it. The method you choose to prepare it can depend on the type you have. Different types have different flavors, some have strong, meaty tastes, while others are a more soft taste. Nowadays, it is more popular with many more variations to choose from and east to buy ready made.

You can find small ones which come as a unit, like Sardines or others come in fillets or pieces, like Salmon or tuna. You will generally find people do not like them for two reasons being that they do not like the bones or have not had it cooked well, giving them a bad image of the food. In these times, it is much more accepted and popular, as people know better how to prepare it.

It has been known for a long time that they are healthy for you, but only in the more recent years have we truly understood why. There are certain types that are high in beneficial fatty acids like Omega 3. Omega 3 has been proven to benefit the brain, heart and other parts. In general, they are high in vitamins, proteins and minerals, for example Iron and Magnesium. They are also low in calories and fat making them very healthy.

A quick and easy way to cook it is to turn them into fishcakes, which can be easily fried. You can make them using Salmon, tuna or cod usually. You can also add different flavors to make them more interesting, such as extra spices.

They are very simple to make, you simple mix the filling, cover them in coating such as breadcrumbs and shallow fry in a pan until golden brown. You can find several recipes on the net. This is a great way to make a dinner of fish taste good and are healthy for you.
