Rotisserie Parties - How To Plan A Successful One

By Nora Seabolt

Traditionally, a rotisserie was used mainly because a lot of people needed to be fed simultaneously.A large roasting spit which could cook a large animal at one go was the perfect solution. While the rotisserie might have been created out of necessity, it is now one of the best ways to bring people together. As a matter of fact, weather permitting, nothing can beat a rotisserie party with friends, family members and neighbors.

While a rotiseerie party has a lot of potential to be fun, this potential can only be realized with proper planning. You would need to consider everything from the outdoor cooking equipment you will need to how much time the meat will need to be cooked. The following are some tips that you should keep in mind while planning your party.

Before you do anything else, you should make a list of the people who you want to invite and find out how many people are going to be there. This would tell you how much meat you will need to serve, and to arrange all the accompaniments required for marinating and garnishing it.Setting aside half a pound of meat for each individual should be fine. You will need a wide variety of things to go with the meat such as the basting liquid, all the various spices and the stuffing that you plan to use in your meat.

The type of meat that you want to roast would also be an important decision. This is also a decision that will depend upon the number of people you plan on inviting. For instance, a small to medium scale party can be catered to with chicken, a small turkey or even beef while a large party would require something bigger such as a large turkey, lamb or even suckling pig.

If you know how much meat you will need, then you would also be able to figure out the size that you should look for when considering various options for a roasting spit hire.Ask questions, talk to sales representatives and even conduct some research before deciding on the right size because a wrong decision can turn out to be quite embarrassing. In addition to the size of the roasting spit hired, you should also evaluate various other aspects such as refund and return policies and delivery and pickup protocols.

If you want to be a good host and allow everyone to enjoy themselves then you would also have to find out the amount of time you will need to roast the meat on the spit roast hired by you.For example, if the meat would need to be roasted for two hours then you can start whetting your guests' appetites two hours in advance.

Most people who hold rotisserie parties also make them potluck parties where every guest brings a dish or a dessert to contribute to the food. The reason for this is simply that making a rotisserie party a potluck would take some pressure off you to manage everyone's food requirements along with adding a certain sense of variety as well.

Having enough fuel for the roasting process is also important because running out of fuel would not be an ideal situation for the meat.

Moreover, if you live in a cold region, you can even use the extra fuel for keeping people warm as the evening progresses.

  1. So lovely post on party planning. I need to organize an outdoor party so these tips would be very helpful. I visited lots of Los Angeles venues to book best for my sister’s bachelorette party. All venues were so pretty as well as quite inexpensive. I might book one of them!!
