Celebrating Your Holiday With Thanksgiving Chocolates

By Tameka Ware

This is most definitely one of the more significant holidays for Americans and Canadians alike. The historical breaking of bread eaten between the Pilgrims and the Indians has never been celebrated in such a gastronomically delightful way. Thanksgiving chocolates are a novel way of giving thanks.

Thanksgiving is synonymous with roast turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. It is a perfect excuse to eat like kings and, of course, celebrate time spent with family and loved ones. It is a most special time where we take stock of the year just passed and show our love to the people closest to us.

At this time of year giving thanks is the order of the day. A way to show this gratitude to your friends and neighbors is by gifting them with special made holiday chocolate and there are plenty of varieties to choose from.

When thinking of Thanksgiving the mind immediately turns to turkeys. Decorate your coffee table with a shallow bowl full of foil-covered milk chocolate turkeys for guests and family alike. Give dinner guests each a different color and they also serve as the perfect place setting.

Foil-covered milk or dark chocolate leaves give a fall feel to any setting. Scatter some in your holiday centrepiece display to gift your guests with a sweet surprise. They will love foraging for the chocolates over the dinner table.

Fill up your candy bowl with chocolaty almonds and pistachios. Add fall fruits such as dried apricots and cherries. Mix the fruit and chocolates in the bowls to add to the seasonal vibe.

Buy chocolate-covered malt candies covered in different colors of confectioner's dust. Give them as gifts to your friends, packaged beautifully in a clear plastic bag, adding a seasonal ribbon.

Of course, chocolate and Thanksgiving do not immediately go together. There are, however, countless numbers of artisan chocolate makers who specialize in creating the perfect party favors for this time of year. Their sense of experimentation means that the limit of choice is where their imaginations stop.

Especially after an overload of pumpkin pie, there is nothing like sitting down with a mug of coffee and a turkey-shaped turkey. A great way to wind up the day. Share them with family and friends alike as a perfect end to a perfect day.

Naturally, it is also possible to get into the creative holiday mood by trying your hand at making the chocolates yourself. Buy your own molds. It is relatively inexpensive and any good chocolatier will have seasonal molds in stock.

Take your favorite kind of chocolate and melt it down into the molds. Then just sit them into the fridge to set. You will have your own home-made party treats in no time. Pile them up on a plate and sprinkle confectioner's sugar over them. Set them out as a decorative table setting. You can also pack them into the clear plastic bags and give them as gifts to your family and friends.

There are numerous fun and creative ways of incorporating Thanksgiving chocolates into the day's festivities. This is always a welcome respite from the mountains of pumpkin pie and cold turkey sandwiches.
